what "do" mean in here? Is that used to emphasize the main verb in a sentence?
like in "Do be careful"?

I'm not sure that's good English. I'd prefer "Please do forgive me for this tardy reply."
I hear "Do please..." frequently.
Do please make yourself at home.
Do please help yourself to drinks from the bar.
I guess maybe there should be commas around the word "please".
