Metaphor and metonymy are both figures of speech _______ one word may be used in place of another._____, especially in cognitive scicence and linguistics, the two figures of speech work very differently.
A) which / Therefore
B) at which / Correspondingly
C) where / However
D) whether / On the grounds that
E) most of which / On the other hand
Could you explain me why E, why not C?
Absolutely. Initially, when I saw choice (B) I thought they had got "in which" wrong and put "at which" but then "Correspondingly" didn't work either.
The test questions which are posted here frequently don't have a correct answer as one of the choices. Poor students!
