1. "There are a lot of strange people at my job."
2. "There are a lot of strange people in my job."
3. "I work long hours at my job."
4. "I work long hours in my job."
I am wondering which ones are acceptable English.
[QUOTE=Elaineg;808547]1. "There are a lot of strange people at my job."
2. "There are a lot of strange people in my job."
NOT A TEACHER
(1) Maybe I am wrong, but this is how I interpret the difference:
(a) There are a lot of strange people at my job. = I am referring to the people who work
with me at a particular location. In other words, "There are a lot of strange people at my
company."
(b) There are a lot of strange people in my job. = I am referring to the people who
have decided to do my kind of work. In other words, "There are a lot of strange people
in my profession."
