Dear Sir or Madam,
Which preposition is correct?
I wear a suit on important events.
or
I wear a suit in important events.
Thanks a lot!!!!
Aniko
I would use to/at.
Thank you!!!
I would use for.
Welcome to the forum, Aniko.
As your question concerned I wear a suit in/on important events, that would have made a fine thread title.
I hope you don't teach your students to use multiple exclamation marks when a full stop will do.

Dear Rover,
Of course I don't teach them to use multiple exclamation marks. I only used them to say I really appreciate your help.
Yes I am new here and I don't really know how to use the options here. What do you mean with this:
'As your question concerned I wear a suit in/on important events, that would have made a fine thread title.'
Did I post my question in a wrong place or what?
Thx for your reply.
Aniko
The title of your post was "Preposition". That is quite vague. Rover meant that it would have been more appropriate to actually make "I wear a suit in/on important events" the thread title as well as the actual post.
When scrolling down a screen of threads, it's much more helpful for us to get a good idea of what the question is so that we can decide whether to open it and read it. Just seeing "Preposition" doesn't give us much to go on.
Thanks.

Thank you for the replies. Now I understand everything. Sorry about the problems, but I am new here. That was my first post.

I could see "on" being used in this case. Not "in." "To" is probably best.
