    Default embrace x hug

The road leading to the statue embraces the side of the mountain as it spirals up to the top.
Is it right to use the verb hug instead of embrace?

You can use either one. "Hugs" sounds a little better to me, but that's just my opinion.

It sounds much better to me. In fact 'embraces' sounds rather unnatural.

I agree, I've never heard embraces in that sort of context.

    I prefer "hugs".

The road hugs the coastline all the way to Margate.
