    Default point fingers of blame

    Please expain me the meaning of "point finger of blame" in the context of the following sentence - Politicians point fingers of blame if the bust can be avoided -

    Politicians are reknowned for this sort of thing. They are looking to place the blame for something on someone else.

    I agree with waflob about the blame part, but your sentence does not make sense to me. I cannot see how one can blame somebody 'if the bust can be avoided' - and I don't know what 'the bust' means.

    I understood it in the sense that the politician would get busted (i.e. caught and punished) and tries to divert the blame away from himself/herself.
