Default 'like most' vs. 'like the most'

Is there a grammatical rule for the use of 'the' in sentences like this:

    (1) The film I like most is Godfather.
    (2) The film I like the most is Godfather.

Are both sentences grammatically correct? A search on COCA yields similar number of results.

Both sound fine to me. However, the film is called "The Godfather".
