    Default One of the students - singular or plural

    (a)One of the students are from Italy.
    (b)One of my instructors has written a letter.

    I saw these two answers on one of tests. I am a little confused here.
    In (a), should it be "One of the students is from Italy"

    Yes You are right.
    Context is always important; labelling is rarely important.
