Hi,
What does this sentence mean?
Daisy does not marry him because he's rich.
Does it mean "He's rich, so Daisy doesn't marry him"?
Thanks a lot
It all depends on context. There are two possible meanings:
1) Daisy isn't marrying him because he's rich. She's marrying him for some other reason.
2) Daisy isn't marrying him at all. Her reason for that decision is that he is rich.
It's impossible to tell which is meant without the rest of the book/chapter/passage.
You know what, Emsr.
I got this sentence from a Chinese-English forum and I didn't it was a fragment. It was a few years ago for me to get this sentence.
The editor there merely asked us to translate this sentence without providing more context.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your reminding.
