Mary let him drive her Mercedes

Why 'let' is singular?

Mary let him drive her Mercedes

Why 'let' is singular?

Why would it be plural? Mary is one person, therefore the verb which follows her name is the third person singular.
It is the simple past of "to let". If the sentence were in the present tense, it would be "lets" but of course "lets" is not a plural, it's just the third person singular.
