    Default to assign

    Morning,

With regard to a translation into English, three verbs - assign, attribute and credit - were suggested as options for the blank space in the below sentence. I believe that only attribute and credit are possible in the given context (taking into account any grammatical adjustments that may be required). Am I correct, and, if so, why?

Deckard ______ an electric animal with an animateness that it does not (in fact) possess.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Diafana

I think only 'credit' works with 'with'.

"Deckard attributes to an electric animal with an animateness ..."
