Default Christmas gift and Christmas present

What are the differences between Christmas gift and Christmas present?

    Thank you.

There is really no difference between a 'gift' and a 'present' in American usage. There is a very slight technical difference between the two, but it is not at all recognized in American speech or writing when referring to the tradition of Christmas giving.

There's not much difference in BrE either, though I would use gift for freebies from shops, etc.
