    Question '...look at somebody funny...'?

    Hi all,

Would it be alright to say this in a sentence like the following one?

'...he looks at me funny whenever I go past!'
The question is, could 'funny' be an adverb in such sentences? And if yes, what does that exactly mean?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

Several dictionaries at OneLook Dictionary Search list funny as an adverb as well as an adjective.

Yes, and here, it means strangely, not in an amused way.

We say "funny strange, or funny ha-ha?" as a question to ask which people mean, sometimes.

If someone looked at you funnily, it would suggest that they were trying to make you laugh and/or that they caused you to laugh.

    funnily1........funnily2

Context is always important; labelling is rarely important.
