Dear teachers
Do " I was wondering" and "I am wondering" have the same meaning?
Ex: When some people give a presentation, and I have a quesiton about he just told.
Could i use both the above phrase to raise my question?
I was / am wondering why you......
Thank you in advance!
Both are, of course, possible, but 'I was wondering' is both more polite and more idiomatic.
@nannah: I think it's reasonably common in conversation.
"Ten minutes ago I turned left to avoid the traffic, but now I'm wondering if that was such a good idea"… and similar.
Thank you all for four answers.
