What does the quotation mean?
First of all, he wanted to imbed in his upcoming
high potentials the user application of really advanced investment
theory.
Does the quotation above mean:
first of all, as a user of the really advanced investment theory, he wanted to use the theory and deeply imbed the theory into his subconscious (potentials)?
Well, I am not sure whether I've been on the right track.

It makes no sense to me. It's "embed" not "imbed".

Yes, it should be "embed." What does the sentence mean then?
