    Default if earlier if later

The modern test for such evaluation is that which would literally infringe if later in time anticipates if earlier than the date of invention.

Would someone rephrase the sentence please ?

    Thanks in advance

It doesn't make any sense to me, so I can't rephrase it, sorry.

I don't understand it so I can't rephrase it, but I've added some punctuation which I think makes the original make some sense at least.

The most complicated sentence I have ever seen.

    Thank you both.

I'm not sure that your thanks are warranted! We didn't really help. I have made the best I can of the sentence but I don't think it makes any sense even with the punctuation. Where did you find the original sentence?

    I thanked for your interest.

It is not me who should deal with the sentence. A translator has asked how it can be translated into Turkish on a language forum.

I would be inclined to ask them to translate it into proper English first, then you stand half a chance!
