Default I saw/send my friend off at the airport.

I saw my friend off at the airport.

I send my friend off at the airport.

I know the first sentence is correct, but is the second one also correct?

    Thanks.

What if I would say the same as in 1 but with the off dropped? Acceptable? Less usual?

    Thanks, Alex.

"I saw my friend at the airport" is a good sentence but it has a completely different meaning to "I saw my friend off at the airport".
