Default Off we go vs. let's go

    Hello everybody.
I'd like to know, is there any difference between the phrases "Off we go" and "Let's go"? The meaning of "Let's go" is crystal clear to me, but I'm not sure if there isn't a slightly different meaning to the phrase "Off we go". Maybe it's just a little more formal, or old-fashioned?

I only see a very minor potential difference. We can say "Let's go" at any time before or at the same time as leaving. You might say "Let's go" but not actually leave for another 5 or 10 minutes. However, "Off we go" is usually said right on the point of leaving or driving away.

I don't think many people would feel much of a difference though. I had to think hard to work out if I really heard any difference at all.
