Hi,
I have seen a sentence on internet, and I want to share it with you. I don't know whether it is ok or not.
-He had been skiing between 2 pm and 4 pm yesterday.
Thanks...
It's a sentence in the past about a repeated/continuous action that happened before another event in the past.
For instance you could come across it in indirect speech
I met Jack earlier and he told me (most recent past event) he had been skiing (previous past event) between 2 and 4 pm yesterday.
Hope it helps
Can we use past perfect cont. tense with a specific time such as 'between 2 and 4 pm '?
I think it is better to say.
-He was skiing between 2 pm and 4 pm yesterday.
"I met Jack earlier and he told me (most recent past event) he had been skiing (previous past event) between 2 and 4 pm yesterday."
This is perfectly correct.

Sorry, it was past perfect progressive with any specific time. Because between 2 and 4 pm is a specific time for it.
Hi Aysaa,
I found this link which is pretty clear.
reported.
Past continuous
She said, "I was teaching English at 5 pm. yesterday.
Past perfect continuous
She said she had been teaching at 5 pm the day before yesterday.
So, is that ok?
