past infinitive or ing Would it be correct if I say ' I am glad to have been invited' instead of 'I am glad for being invited'?

Threadstarter / Original Poster Re: past infinitive or ing Why? I have seen many times sentences like I am happy for being myself , for being invited etc. Is there a rule?

I'm happy to have been invited I'm happy that I was invited.I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
