Yes. You can delete an individual post if you want to. You press the Edit button and at the bottom is the delete option box. You have to give a reason for deletion though.

You can only edit a post that you personally posted. If someone goes on to edit that post, and then you go back and edit the original, that will get very confusing. I recommend only editing a post immediately after you post it, when you suddenly spot an error. I try to edit my posts only before anyone replies. Once there is a more recent post than my own, I leave mine alone.
