XIX <- How do I read it?

I'm confused about reading roman numbers.

For example, XIX might be 19, but I wonder if I can read it out 'nine-teen'.

Yes, just read them like they were expressed in normal numerals.

This is year MMXII. Say "Two thousand twelve" not "em em ex aye aye."

That is a better way to read it than 'seven-ty'
