Bhai.My teacher asked me to give the correct tense to this sentence:
50 cents (be) _____ how much I owe you.
I'd choose is because I think "50 cents" is an amount of money, so it can't be plural.
Is it right? Yes.
Oh, one more thing. Are these words plural?
a. 0.5 meter(s). Q. "How many metres is it?" A. "It's 0.5 metres."
b. 1.5 meter(s). Q. "How many metres is it?" A. "It's 1.5 metres."
c. one third of the apples is/are green. Either is OK IMO.
d. two thirds of the apples are green.
I'm not sure about a and b. I'd choose is for c and are for d.
