the next year / next year
Could you tell me, please?
Can I use the next year with Future Simple or it only goes with Reported Speech to replace next year?
We'll modify our plant the next year.- Is it possible?
Thanks.

No, if you mean next year (2013), it's not correct to say "the next year".
Similarly, it's not right to say "the next month" for March, or "the next day" for Saturday (it's Friday here, now).
However, if you're planning something long term, you can say "We don't have enough money to do all this at once. We could build up our resources for a year and modify our plant the next year." That is, "the next year" refers to a year other than the one following the current one.
You can also use "the next" for days, months etc. as long as they don't refer to the current day, month, etc.

It's possible, though I am not to happy about modifying a plant:
We'll close down the Hungarian branch in 2014, and we'll rebuild the Czech branch the next/following year.
ps. Raymott beat me to it.

Thank you... I think I've got it. "The next year" in comparison with the previous one but not with this moment.
