"Talk of somehow local to immune the smallpox " is hard to understand. Wrong grammar?

Context:

Our next great discovery happened in the eighteenth century
When smallpox killed estimated forty million people around the world,
Doctors were unable to find the cause or discovered a cure
But in a small English village
Talk of somehow local to immune the smallpox got the attention of a country doctor named Edward Jenner
It was said that the villagers who worked in the diary business were save from smallpox because they have been already infected by cowpox
A related but less severe disease that inflated cattle,
Cowpox victim suffered fever and sores on their hands

The phrase in bold is meaningless.
Why are you capitalising the first word in each line? Have you forgotten how to use capitals and full stops?

This is as good a demonstration of the need for punctuation as any. You first three lines could mean:

"Our next great discovery happened in the eighteenth century when smallpox killed [an] estimated forty million people around the world. Doctors were unable to find the cause or discovered a cure." OR

"Our next great discovery happened in the eighteenth century. When smallpox killed [an] estimated forty million people around the world, doctors were unable to find the cause or discovered a cure."

We have these punctuation conventions for a reason. If you copied what your source actually says, it might be possible to work out a meaning.

I just copied it as is and tried to find the meaning of "Talk of somehow local to immune the smallpox".
