What is the difference between: I am waiting for going back home -and- I am waiting to go back home.

''Wait for'' is used only for pronouns, is that right? Such as wait for me, you,...etc.

When you want to show the purpose of something , you should make use of " to" , " in order to" or "so that".
I am waiting to go back home.
I am waiting in order to get back home.
I am waiting so that I can get back home.
Of course the one that you said is also correct." wait for me"
