Default When you do this to a word [STRIKE]wonderful[/STRIKE], how do you call it in English?

    Hi teachers,
When you do this to a word, wonderful, how do you call it in English? Is it 'cross out' or 'strike'?

    Thanks in advance.

On a computer, that's a "strikethrough". In BrE, when you do it by hand you "cross it out" or, occasionally, "cross it through".

By the way "what do you call it in English?", not "how do you call it ...?"

    Hi,
Thank you for your reply and corrections.

Then, are these instructions (directions) acceptable?
Many of these sentenceshave errors. Cross them out and write the corrections on the lines. Only one word can be changed. But first look at the example.
    Another question please:
If you put this 'X' on a word, do you still call it, 'cross it out'?

    Thanks

I would call that "X it out," but that was common when people used typewriters. If writing by hand, one would not typically use Xs to write over something.
