Default We look forward to serving you

We look forward to serving you.

    1) Is
"We look forward to serve you." correct or better than "We look forward to serving you."?

    2) Why the word "serving" ending with "ing" is allowed after the word "to"? I always thought that after the word "to", there should not be words with ending with *ing

    Thanks

    No. It's wrong.

    2) Why is the word "serving" ending with "ing" is allowed after the word "to"? I always thought that after the word "to", there should not be words with ending with *ing.
The 'to' is not part of the infinitive form of the verb; it is a preposition. Prepositions are normally followed by a noun, pronoun or gerund.
