Would you tell me how to get to the supermarket?
Hello,
Would you tell me how to get to the supermarket
? Since it is an indirect speech, shouldn't we place a period instead of the question mark?
Isn't it like saying:
Would you tell me the way to the supermarket.
Thanks.

No. The indirect question is within the direct question Would you tell me X? Your second sentence also needs a question mark.
