but... I got confused when I heard this song.

There is nothing wrong with "say to someone".
He said something.
He said something to me.
"What are you going to do?", he said to me.
The usual error made by learners is that they learn "to say [something] to someone" and then they think that they should also say, for example "He told to me ..."
