Which is correct? More natural (without any special context)?

    2) He lives in the city.
    3)He lives in a village.
    4) He lives in the village.
    5) Mark has a family in a village and Tom has a family in the city.
    6) Pete's family is in a town.

Few utterances have real meaning without some form of context.
Context is important. Please provide enough for us to be able to deal effectively with your question.
Your thread title should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.

    ***NOT A TEACHER***

Excellent! They are correct. However, The city refers to specific city. In other words, listeners or readers know to which city you refer to. On the other hand, "a city" isn't specific, it might be any city. Hope that helps.
