Dear all,
1. This is the museum which we visited last year.
2. This is the museum where we visited last year.
I think #1 is fine. But Is #2 wrong? Maybe it is grammatically wrong, but it seems like it is acceptable.
Thank you!

Nor in AmE, unless you "visited" with a group of people and it just happened to take place in a museum.
You could solve the issue by simply saying "This is the museum we visited last year" (in BrE, at least).
Dear all,
Thank you for your replies to my question.
If the sentence is "This is the city where we visited last year", does it also sound strange?
OP
Yes.
Dear all,
Thanks again.
If "This is the city where we visited last year" sounds strange,
does "Kyoto is a beautiful city. I visited there" sound strange too?
And "Kyoto is a big city. I visited it" is fine?
Thank you
OP
Yes and yes.
