dissertation studies. 'nursing home' ? 'nursing homes' ?

Hi, I am a student nurse. For my dissertation research, I must do a summary on the back cover in English. I write my text in English, but I doubt the term "nursing home". should put an "s" or not at the end of "home" ? My sentences : "After staying at home proves impossible, the elderly person sometimes has to live in nursing homes" and "Unlike the common thought, the risk of suicide grows up with age and is high among the elderly in nursing homes".
