    Default He gives the customer his change in coins/notes.

    1) Students must learn how to count and give change by using different denominations of coins and notes.
    2) He gives the customer his change in coins/notes.
    3) Can I receive my change in small denomination coins/notes?

    They are all understandable. My only query would be whether in 2 and 3, you mean "coins and notes" or "coins or notes", when you said "coins/notes".
