Your verbs mean essentially the same thing, although "passed" might mean it was physically given to him by hand, and sent could mean by post or by email. However, they could mean exactly the same thing.
Both sentences have the same error regarding capitalisation of proper nouns/names.
Remember - correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing make posts much easier to read.
