Could you possibly tell me what this semntence means?and are these in the meaning the same?
The answer evaded him.
He evaded to answer the question.
Could you please tell me what this sentence means?
(1) The answer evaded him.
Does this sentence mean the same as (1)?
(2) He evaded to answer the question.
(1) This means that he could not think of the answer, he was unable to answer the question.
(2) The correct form is "He evaded the question", meaning that he avoided answering the question.
He may or may not have known the answer, but he didn't want to give any answer.
