including 'gut' in a company name
hi
I am starting a fundraising company and I would like to call it zumgut, which is an evocative mix of German words 'zum' (towards) and 'gut' (good).
but I know that the English term 'gut' means something like 'bowel' or 'to eviscerate', which is unfit for a fundraising cause.
do you think that English speaking people will associate the sound 'zumgut' with the above mentioned 'gut' meanings?
or is there any other concept this sound could be associated with?
thanks a lot

Re: including 'gut' in a company name
Welcome to the forum, lorenzob.
If you are planning to operate in English-speaking countries, think of a different name. Zumgut, probably pronounced /zʌmgʌt/ sounds like some unpleasant stomach disorder you acquired while staying at a rather sordid hotel.
Context is important. Please provide enough for us to be able to deal effectively with your question.
Your thread title should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.
If you just want to know the meaning of a word, try OneLook Dictionary Search first.

5jj, thank you very much for your straight answer.
Could 'zumgood' be a better option?

Better, but it sounds uncomfortably close to Some Good - which doesn't convey a very positive viewpoint, with the implication 'Some... but not much'.
