Past simple vs. past continuous
Hello! I want someone to help me with the following question:
Why do we use past simple here : I lived in Chicago for 2 years. And when can we use past continuous if we use time expressions such as for 2 years, for a week and so on.

I'm not sure if I understand your question, but the implication of this sentence is that they no longer live in Chicago.
