This is an example of using the idiom 'take a chance' from Webster's Third New International Dictionary.
I understand the meaning of 'take a chance', but don't understand this sentense. Could you explain it to me ?

Does that mean something like
"You'd better take a chance while the weather remains fair / till the weather becomes bad" ?

To take a chance means to gamble or to assume a risk. If you were planning to go on a picnic but the weather threatened rain, if you decided to go anyway you would be taking a chance on the weather.

Or to take a deeper example, many of us take a chance on love.
