how to understand the phrase "token response"?
eg. rather than giving a token response we shouid be willing to adapt and address their concerns

A "token response" is a response you make only because it is expected or required, not because you intend to say or do anything substantial or useful. A response for the sake of appearances only, rather than one that properly addresses the question or situation.
