Can you please explain why saying "Winning match is a fun" wrong (if it is) while "Losing match is a tragedy" correct.

What are the rules for using "a"?

Please help in understanding this concept.

"Fun" is not countable, so you can't have "a fun" or many "funs."

You should say "winning a match" (if making a general statement) or "winning the match" (if talking about a particular match).

"Fun" is an adjective. "Tragedy" is a noun. We use the articles before a noun.

Winning a match is fun. (adj)
Losing a match is tragic. (adj)

Winning a match is a joy! (noun)
Losing a match is a tragedy. (noun)
