step into society
I was wondering if I want to say that a graduate-soon-to-be is getting ready to start his new job and will face many new challenges in society, which of the following are correct?
1) When he steps into the society, ...
2) When he steps in to the society, ...
3) When he sets out in the society, ...
4) When he steps out to the society, ...
5) Any other possible phrases?
One more question: Sometimes, I don't see the definite article 'the' in front of society, so is 'the' required in the above phrases?
MANY THANKS!

Re: step into society
not a teacher
I would say "When he steps out into society…".
You don't need the article "the", just as you have correctly left it out in your phrase "…and will face many new challenges in society…"
I'm not sure of the context of your example, but a more common phrase would be "When he goes out into the world".

Re: step into society
Thanks a lot for your sharing
Could somebody please tell me if (1) - (4) are okay?
Also, for the noun society, does it always not take the definite article 'the' even when we're referring to a particular one?
THANKS

They are not OK, as JMurray has already suggested.

No.
The society she had been bought up in had not prepared her for this sort of behaviour.
