    Default What's the meaning of this word? - I forgot.

    Will it be a grammar mistake to use the verb "to forget" in the Past Simple (in British English) in the context (in the itle)?
    If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up.)

    I say and teach "I've forgotten". I consider "I forgot" wrong. You will probably hear it, though.

    bagzi, this about the normal difference between the past simple and present perfect.

    I do not remember the meaning of this word. I have forgotten it.

    I forgot to do my homework last night.
