if any is used to express an element of doubt in this sort of context.
Examples:
Scientists have found little proof, if any, of life on other planets.
What is her connection, if any, with the President?
What category do you fit into, if any?

In addition to the very fine explanation provided by Red5, I'd like to add just one more thing on.Originally Posted by Ilovethisforum
You can begin a sentence with "if any" as well.
If any cars are left in the parking lot overnight, they will be towed.
If any of you would like something to drink, there is juice and coffee on the table at the back of the room.
