The meaning of "There goes...."

Yes, it is actually the name of that science fiction novella
but me and a friend of mine were talking about this a few times and just
wasn't able to find out what could the exect meaning of the title be.

Who Goes There?

"Who goes there" is a question asked by a military guard when someone approaches his position. The meaning is - who are you? If you read this term in a book, it probably meant the same - who (or what) is approaching.
