Default What sport do you do?

Hello, I have a question about the way to ask what sport someone enjoys.

Which do you use more often, "What sport do you play" or "What sport do you do?"

We don't use the verb play for every kind of sport. If so, is it better to say "What sport do you do?" than "What sport do you play?"
Or is it always OK to use "What sport do you play?" though he or she might like sports that don't go with the verb "play".

I'll appreciate your help.

... or practise or prefer/like best. I have the impression that (perhaps because none of these verbs is ideal) it's more commmon to ask 'What's your favourite sport?'

Thank you two for your explanation.
I've come up with another question.

What if you want to ask someone's plan or schedule of what sport he or she plays(does, practices?) on a certain day?

Suppose you know someone plays(does, practices?) a different sport each day of the week and that you want to know what sport he or she plays(does, practices?) on a certain day, let's say, on Monday.
How would you ask it?

Would you say "What sport do you play on Monday?" or would you use another verb? I would like to know what verb native speakers would use, besides "enjoy."

Thank you for your help.

I'd use 'do' because it would cover all sports; 'play' doesn't fit activites like swimming.

Thank you for all of your help.

We Japanese have one general verb that goes with every kind of sports.
So it is sometimes very difficult for me to tell which English verb goes with what sport.

Thank you again for your help. I really appreciate it.
