| Hello jc, "Out of interest,..." introduces a question that may not be strictly relevant to the subject under discussion, but which interests the speaker. Best wishes, MrP

| "out of interest" means that the speaker is mildly interested which route is taken. He/she has listened to the conversation and is curious about the route taken (whatever this really means). |
