Letter to apply for an ATM card
Dear Mr.X,
Re: Application of ATM Card
I have opened an account with your bank recently and would like to apply for an ATM Card. My account no is xxxx. I shall be grateful, if you could inform me the procedure to apply for the card. I would also like to know the duration to obtain the card, once applied.

With respect, the original letter's "apply for an ATM card" was better. It is clear and to the point.

Would it be better to say "I would be grateful if you could tell me what I should do to apply for an ATM card"?

'Shall' is fine. It is widely used and considered polite in India.

'N°' is the widely accepted abbreviation.
