If the dinner belonged to the dog, it was its dinner. If the dinner belonged to me, it was my dinner.

Once the dog had started eating, wouldn't it automatically becomes the dog's dinner?

what's different between its and it's?

i would choose either

The word "its" is a possessive adjective.
The word "it's" is a conctraction of "it is" or "it has". :wink:

it's is used instead of it is, while
its is used when describing that it has.

It's = it is or it has
its = shows possession
