Bleeding Heart

Hello,

the meaning of this is right though I've a little bit to tell about this because of the following story:
As I was chatting around years ago in community somebody got in contact with me regarding to my nickname, which was: bleeding_heart1978@..., he was a Canadian and ask straight whether I knew the meaning behind my nick and I told him that I do not know any meaning behind it and I just choose this because sometimes I feel like I own a bleeding heart, literally, which meant to, and still mean, that I was hurt so deep inside me that I felt like I own a bleeding heart. He told me that I was close to his story.
Which was something like: A bleeding heart describes a person who miss another person in a war, whose heart is hurt so deep..

Maybe you can use something to extent the meaning.

In the US, this is sort of derrogatory. A bleeding heart is someone who feels sorry for people who may not deserve sympathy. Someone who thinks that criminals, drug addicts, alcoholics, and those like them should be pitied and helped by the government is called a "bleeding heart liberal."

In the UK, it's the same as Myke says about the US- it doesn't have the meaning you describe to me at all.
